Hi folks,

Well I thought it was about time I put a new post up as its been over a year since my last one. I am sorry! Life got the better of me I guess! My interest in beauty has not decreased thankfully, in fact it’s probably higher than ever hehe! Even though I’ve been incredibly lazy over the past year with my lack of posts my blog has been increasing in hits month by month. Last month I had over 1000 hits which was more than double the views of January 2011. I am shocked by the figures as I haven’t updated this in over a year but I’m not going to complain!

Anyways onwards with my update on the results of the three Dermaroller treatments that I had between late 2011 and early 2012. I’ve received a few emails over the past few months asking me to share my thoughts on the results so I thought it was about time that I did that. Read the rest of this entry »

Well it’s been three weeks today since I had my first Dermaroller treatment and what an experience it was!  You see, I went along to the Medi-Spa with the intention of getting a facial but had a rather different experience than I originally intended.  Here’s some background info…

When I was in my late teens I developed acne on my forehead that literally appeared out of the blue!  Up until that point I had broken out on occasion on my chin but nothing could have prepared me for the onslaught of acne that appeared over the next few years.  Thankfully the spots went after a few years of breakout cycles that made me get so down that I didn’t want to go outside half the time and face the world.  Acne really does affect you not only on the outside, but on the inside too, emotionally.

My favourite sunscreen

As I promised on Monday here is a review of a product that everyone should have in their skin care routine – SUNSCREEN. Your probably thinking that you don’t need to wear sunscreen as we are coming into winter but you do. We are hit by the sun’s harmful rays every day! Sunscreen is the most important part of your skin care routine.  You can use the most expensive anti-ageing products on your skin to prevent wrinkles but if you are not wearing sunscreen then you are just wasting your money. It’s a known fact that 90% of the signs of ageing including wrinkles and age spots are caused by the sun. This is why it is so important to wear sunscreen on a daily basis, 365 days a year. Sunscreen acts as a barrier which prevents the harmful UVA & UVB rays from directly hitting your skin, therefore if you are wearing sunscreen daily you can rest assure that you are winning in the fight against wrinkles! I’m back!

October 3, 2011

Howdy folks!

First off, apologies for my six month absence from the blog.  I’ve had a pretty hectic schedule the past while and my blog took a back seat unfortunately.  The good news though is that I’m back and plan to have a new review up this week.  Hope everyone is well and thanks for reading!

John 🙂

PS – I got two little friends recently.  They’re awesome!

Now this product ladies & gentlemen is one of my favourites and one that I use on an almost daily basis.  It’s the Smashbox Under Eye Brightener.  I’ve been using it for about a year now and I love it! It’s perfect for a quick fix if you are in a rush and don’t have time to apply your full face as the eyes are instantly brightened when you apply it.  I love it because it gives your eyes a brighter, more alive look without having to resort to a concealer if you don’t have the time for example. Smashbox do say though that it’s basically like a primer for your eyes and it will ensure that your concealer will look better if this is used beforehand.  I do use concealer over the top of it from time to time and it does help the concealer sit better and I got virtually no creasing whatsoever which was great.  I tend to mostly use this alone though as my dark circles are not that bad.  The instant brightening effect of the the eye area when you apply it though, is what I find the most impressive about this product.  It contains Vitamin E, red wine extract, peptides and marine collagen which all aid in minimising the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

It comes in one shade only, which is Nude.  It blends in rather nicely and it does hide the darkness well, especially in the corners of your eye.  There are also light reflecting particles in this product which is great.  You apply it via a brush which ensures you get as precise an application as possible.  Below shows a before and after shot of my eyes wearing the product, taken in daylight.  I feel its very natural looking and you can see the darkness in the corners of my eye has been reduced in the after shot. You can’t tell that you are wearing anything either which is a real bonus.  What is also great about this product is that it doubles up as a highlighter. You can use it on your cheek bones or even around your mouth to contour and brighten it.

Overall I feel that this is a great product from Smashbox.  It’s brilliant for that quick pick me up that we all need sometimes, especially the morning after the night before when your eyes might be looking slightly worse for wear.  I also love the fact that it doubles up as a highlighter too!  The price is slightly on the pricey side though, at £23.50 but it does last forever!  I’m still on my first tube. Well done Smashbox!

I hope this review has been of help and all comments and feedback are greatly appreciated.
