This little beauty first came to my attention a few months ago and I fell in love with it immediately!  It’s the ELF Studio Complexion Brush.  It is the bargain price of £3.50 which is amazing for the quality you are getting with this brush!  ELF Cosmetics have really made a name for themselves over the past few years. They have become known for creating high quality products at low-cost prices.  I purchased this brush based on the positive reviews I’d read on various blogs. Like them I feel this brush is amazing!

It’s a synthetic haired Taklon brush and its so, so soft!  The great thing about it is that it’s a multi-purpose brush.  Elf say that it can be used with pressed, loose, or translucent powders, blush or bronzer.  I have only used it to apply translucent powder and bronzer so I can’t comment on how well it fares it with pressed powders, but judging by how amazing it is at applying bronzer with I would say that it is just as good.

What I love about this brush is that not only can you use it to apply bronzer generally but it can also be used to contour the face as well.  I didn’t expect this feature from this brush, and it isn’t quite as good as using a brush that is specifically designed to contour the face, but it is still excellent, especially at defining the cheekbones, which is what I tend to use it for.  In the months that I have used it I have also noticed no shedding whatsoever which you’ll be glad to know!

Overall the ELF Studio Complexion Brush is a great brush, especially if you don’t want to spend a lot of money on a higher end brush.  I highly recommend it.

You can buy it online from Elf for £3.50.

I hope this review has been of help and all comments and feedback are greatly appreciated. Got a question?  Get in touch..I love to talk!

Now this product ladies & gentlemen is one of my favourites and one that I use on an almost daily basis.  It’s the Smashbox Under Eye Brightener.  I’ve been using it for about a year now and I love it! It’s perfect for a quick fix if you are in a rush and don’t have time to apply your full face as the eyes are instantly brightened when you apply it.  I love it because it gives your eyes a brighter, more alive look without having to resort to a concealer if you don’t have the time for example. Smashbox do say though that it’s basically like a primer for your eyes and it will ensure that your concealer will look better if this is used beforehand.  I do use concealer over the top of it from time to time and it does help the concealer sit better and I got virtually no creasing whatsoever which was great.  I tend to mostly use this alone though as my dark circles are not that bad.  The instant brightening effect of the the eye area when you apply it though, is what I find the most impressive about this product.  It contains Vitamin E, red wine extract, peptides and marine collagen which all aid in minimising the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

It comes in one shade only, which is Nude.  It blends in rather nicely and it does hide the darkness well, especially in the corners of your eye.  There are also light reflecting particles in this product which is great.  You apply it via a brush which ensures you get as precise an application as possible.  Below shows a before and after shot of my eyes wearing the product, taken in daylight.  I feel its very natural looking and you can see the darkness in the corners of my eye has been reduced in the after shot. You can’t tell that you are wearing anything either which is a real bonus.  What is also great about this product is that it doubles up as a highlighter. You can use it on your cheek bones or even around your mouth to contour and brighten it.

Overall I feel that this is a great product from Smashbox.  It’s brilliant for that quick pick me up that we all need sometimes, especially the morning after the night before when your eyes might be looking slightly worse for wear.  I also love the fact that it doubles up as a highlighter too!  The price is slightly on the pricey side though, at £23.50 but it does last forever!  I’m still on my first tube. Well done Smashbox!

This review marks the end of my ‘Holy Grail’ skin care trilogy set of reviews.  My previous two reviews were the Avalon Organics Vitamin C serum and Retin A 0.05% gel.  They can be found here and here.  I wanted to start my blog with these reviews because I feel that these skin care products are a great benefit to have in a skin care routine, especially if you are serious about skin care and anti-aging.  I’ve also found that by following these three simple steps my skin has improved dramatically over the past number of months.  I just want to share my experience and knowledge of these products with other people because of the great results I have had with using them. OK so nine times out of ten when I tell somebody about Retin A, I’m either met by a “Ehh what’s that?” or a “John I’ve heard it’s really bad for your skin and you’re far too young to be using that” response.  Now please don’t let that put you off this product as I have been using it now for around seven weeks and I am already planning to use it for life!  Yes it’s that good!  I’m slightly obsessed with telling people about this product so I wanted to share my thoughts with you folks!  This review will only really skim the surface in terms of the ins and outs of Retin A but I don’t want to bore you all too much with a wordy review!  Now you’re probably wondering… Read the rest of this entry »
